ICAO NORM
10” x 8”Photography
Ongoing
ICAO NORM documents places travelled to through the lens of an automatic passport photo booth. The passport photo captures the tourist in their current physical state upon reaching a city and excludes the attractions that brought them there. By representing the person rather than the idealistic views of the cities which attracted them, these documents of travel signify the movement of a person to and from rather than the places themselves. These portraits are without a photographer; they are rather made using these physical machines whose existence in digital times is justified by the need for identification by our bureaucratic systems. ICAO NORM therefore depicts the self-portrait using this bureaucratic lens: no smiling, eyes aligned, combed-back hair, etc.
